This endorsed CPD training is for counsellors who would like to begin to expand and enhance their counselling skills to enable them to work with young people in a counselling setting. Counsellors can be either qualified or in training completing a counselling qualification.
Course content
Day 1:
Exploring ourselves as young people
Looking at mental health and well-being with young people today/Governments plans
Introduction of BACP Competencies Framework
Exploring differences and similarities of working with CYP
Day 2:
Introduction to Attachment Theory
Considering the concept of power in the counselling relationship
Day 3:
Working in a school setting
Managing risk
Day 4 :
Creative day, using creative enablers to engage with young people and help them to identify emotions and express through creative working
Day 5- Safeguarding/child protection. Covering laws, legislations and local policies to ensure we work ethically and safely with CYP.
